The hospital has confirmed that the entire treatment is being provided free of cost under its charitable mandate” Said Permanent trustee Mr. Rajiv Kishore Mehta.

Mumbai: Lilavati Hospital & Research Centre has once again demonstrated its commitment to compassionate and ethical healthcare by providing completely free-of-cost treatment to Mr. Yogesh Madhukar Chaudhary, a construction worker whose both legs got crushed due to reversing cement truck at construction site.  A dedicated multidisciplinary team led by Dr. Sushil Nehte, Plastic Surgeon, is working tirelessly to provide medical attention and seamless, coordinated specialist care, The patient is currently stable and progressing well under continuous medical supervision.

35 year old Mr. Yogesh Madhukar Chaudhary, a construction labourer, saw his life take a devastating turn in a matter of seconds when a reversing cement roller truck crushed into him, resulting in significant trauma to both his lower limbs. His legs were severely injured and his future uncertain. What began as an ordinary working day ended in unimaginable pain, trauma, and fear for his family. Bleeding and critically hurt, he was immediately rushed by nearby staff to Navneet Hi-tech Charitable Hospital in Dahisar on 29th January 2026, where doctors fought to stabilize him. In the immediate aftermath of the accident, nearby staff rushed him to Navneet Hi-tech Charitable Hospital in Dahisar on 29th January 2026, where doctors began urgent treatment to stabilize his condition. Over the next few days, medical evaluation revealed that he required advanced surgical intervention that was beyond the facility’s scope. Recognizing the urgency and complexity of his injuries, the treating doctors recommended his transfer to Lilavati Hospital for specialized and higher-level care.

Upon arrival at Lilavati Hospital, he was promptly received by a multidisciplinary team of specialists who initiated comprehensive treatment without delay. The hospital has confirmed that all medical care, including emergency procedures and ongoing management, is being provided completely free of cost under its charitable mandate and regulatory framework. Every necessary intervention has been carried out responsibly, ensuring that the patient continues to receive uninterrupted and compassionate care.

“It has been observed that Mr. Aki Khatib, who describes himself as a social worker, became aware of the case and subsequently met the patient’s relatives. Thereafter, using social media platform, he publicly levelled allegations of impropriety not only in relation to the treatment of Mr. Yogesh Madhukar Chaudhary but also against the Lilavati hospital and its trustees, without verifying the medical records or documented facts. He has also invoked political affiliation and suggested escalation into legislative forums. He has influence patient to talk negatively about the hospital and the trustees by giving them false promises. This shows that there are credible grounds to believe that Mr. Aki Khatib is acting at the behest of vested anti-Trust elements, including Rajesh Mehta, Priti Patil, and Parambir Singh, against whom Lilavati Hospital have initiated legal action of siphoning of more than 100 crores of trust funds.” added permanent trustee Mr. Rajeev Kishore Mehta.

It is made clear that despite all the baseless allegations, the hospital and trust continue to run and manage everything smoothly in the interest of society.

The coordinated negative campaigns targeting Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre highlight the growing vulnerability of premier healthcare institutions to digital misinformation and sensationalism. While these social media "trials" without any proof by certain vested interests cloud the hospital's reputation, they often overlook its decades-long legacy of clinical excellence and its role as a cornerstone of Mumbai's medical infrastructure. By focusing on unverified claims or dramatic allegations, these campaigns risk undermining public trust in critical healthcare systems.

The hospital further clarifies that administrative procedures, including documentation and eligibility verification for charitable or government-supported benefits, are standard processes followed uniformly for all applicable patients. These procedures are designed to ensure regulatory compliance and proper allocation of charitable resources and do not interfere with emergency or life-saving treatment. Any suggestion that treatment was withheld, delayed, or conditioned upon financial considerations is categorically denied. Due to patient confidentiality and ethical obligations, the hospital is constrained from disclosing detailed medical records in the public domain.

During the press conference, Ms. Pramila Chaudhary, the patient’s mother from Dhule, addressed the media and placed relevant facts on record regarding her son’s medical care said “During the emergency, he was taken to Navneet Hi-tech Charitable Hospital following a traffic accident, and he was subsequently brought to Lilavati Hospital for specialized plastic surgical care. In line with medical protocol, the Lilavati team sought relevant records and coordinated with the previous treating doctors before admission. Despite incomplete documentation and without insisting on any deposit, my son was admitted on emergency humanitarian grounds on 15/02/2026 and is currently being treated by a multidisciplinary team led by Dr. Sushil Nhete. Allegations of denial of treatment are categorically incorrect.”

Permanent trustee Mr. Rajeev Kishore Mehta Said “Simultaneously, allegations concerning the ₹1,243 crore financial matter were brought to light by the present management in the interest of transparency and fiduciary responsibility. Let it be placed on record that the issues under investigation relate to actions of certain former trustees and members of the erstwhile administration. On the contrary, the said financial misdeed was revealed by the current board of Trustees, and several FIRs were registered by the Trust through its permanent Trustee Mr Prashant Meha Himself, showing transparency and seeking action. The Trust is fully cooperating with the Economic Offence Wing of the Mumbai Police. We are awaiting firm investigative action against the principal accused ex-trustees. It is only through their custodial interrogation and scrutiny of the financial trail that complete clarity will emerge — including whether any serving officer, including Dr Neeraj Uttamani, had any involvement whatsoever.”

Lilavati Hospital expresses concern over the selective and unverified dissemination of information on social media, which may create unnecessary panic and reputational harm. The institution remains open to lawful scrutiny and has always cooperated with appropriate authorities wherever required. At the same time, the hospital reserves its right to seek appropriate legal remedies against the spread of false and defamatory statements. Lilavati Hospital remains steadfast in its mission to provide compassionate, accessible, and high-quality healthcare to all sections of society.
