Why do women face the problem of anemia during pregnancy?

This protein carries oxygen and helps red blood cells carry oxygen from the lungs to the body. Along with this, it also helps to carry carbon dioxide from your body to the lungs, so that you can exhale it. Your body needs a steady supply of iron and vitamins to produce RBCs and hemoglobin. It is common for women to be anemic during pregnancy because they do not have enough iron and other vitamins. But anemia can be treated with the help of certain supplements, vitamins and a healthy diet.

Remedies to increase hemoglobin in pregnancy

  • Drink plenty of fluids during pregnancy to increase hemoglobin and treat anemia. For this, drink plenty of water and ensure to increase fruit-intake etc a part of the diet.
  • Vitamins and iron supplements can be taken to supply iron during pregnancy.
  • To increase hemoglobin, it is necessary to consume foods rich in vitamins C and B. This can help to cure or prevent anemia.
  • Consuming foods rich in iron, vitamin B12 can be beneficial to increase hemoglobin levels.

Apart from this, it is also necessary to take folic acid-rich foods and supplements to increase the level of hemoglobin. Folic acid can be helpful in preventing anemia in pregnancy.
