With very mild symptoms of coronavirus or those pre-symptomatic can opt for home isolation if they have the requisite self-isolation facility at their residence

The total number of cases of Coronavirus nears 30k-mark. The number is ringing at 29,435 with over 900 fatalities, according to updated data on the health ministry's website. A total of 62 deaths and 1,543 fresh cases were reported in the past 24 hours.

The new guidelines from Health Ministry for the people advise that one with very mild symptoms of coronavirus or those pre-symptomatic can opt for home isolation if they have the requisite self-isolation facility at their residence and can maintain a safe distance from other family members, the Union Health Ministry said.

The ministry also said that the patient should be clinically assigned self-quarantine by the treating medical officer.

The patient would be bound to regularly inform his health status to the district surveillance officer for further follow up by the surveillance teams.

Further, the caregiver and all close contacts of the quarantined suspected patient should take Hydroxychloroquine as a preventive medication.

All suspected (awaiting test results) and confirmed cases of COVID-19 disease are presently being isolated and managed in a hospital setting to curb transmission of the virus, the ministry said.
