A survey undertaken by Indian Council of Medical Research – National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad, and sponsored by the International Life Sciences Institute – India, revealed that women take around 20.2 grams of added sugar in a day compared to men. Men’s intake of added sugar was found to be 18.7 grams per day.
The other significant finding of the study was that the mean intake of added sugar among metro cities in India, measured in grams per day, was highest in Mumbai and least in Hyderabad.
