In recent years, the Indian Medical Association has strongly demanded to enact a law on increasing violence against doctors. But as the Ministry of Home Affairs rejects the draft of the law, IMA has demanded intervention from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this matter.

The Indian Medical Association or the Indian Medical Association (IMA), has sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention to bring a central law to protect doctors from violence.

It may be noted that a draft bill in this regard has been put on hold as the Ministry of Home Affairs requires a separate bill in this regard. In recent years, there has been a demand for a comprehensive central law to prevent cases of violence against doctors and increasing cases of damage to hospital properties across the country with provision for 10 years sentence.

IMA hopes that the government will not back down from its stand in this regard.
