Nutrition and meal planning startup Season Health has gained $34 million in their Series A round led by Andreessen Horowitz. Other participants of this funding round are LRV Health, Company Ventures and Toyin Ajayi of Cityblock Health.

Founded by Joshua Wolff and Mustafa Shabib in 2019, the venture provides personalised nutrition and food recommendation based on the person’s health. The platform is based on the philosophy of food-as-medicine. Almost 85% of the USA’s health problems stem from unhealthy diets. They see themselves as a digital food pharmacy.

Users of the platform get a dietician that accesses their health conditions for diabetes, heart disease and allergies. After which patients receive personalised recipes and their ingredients delivered to them at their doorsteps.

They believe that with nutrition they can cure or treat conditions like prediabetes, hypertension, heart disease, congestive heart failure, chronic kidney disease (CKD), celiac disease and more. They even offer a healthy diet for pregnant women. They have partnered with CommonSpirit Health, Cricket Health and Geisinger.

They had previously raised $11 million in their seed fund round. With the current funds, they plan to strengthen their business development and operations team. Along with this, they plan to strengthen their relations with food retailers.
