Kerala continues to report surge in Covid cases as it confirms 13,956 new covid positive cases on Sunday. The test positivity rate is 10.69 percent at present. 81 deaths were also confirmed due to Covid today taking the total death toll to 15,350. Bringing respite, 13,613 people recovered from the covid infection.

At present, over 1 lakh 25,000 people are undergoing covid treatment in the state.

Meanwhile, the lockdown restrictions imposed in the state have been relaxed in observance of Bakrid. The relaxations upon lockdown restrictions will be in place for three days on 18th, 19th and 20th of this month. On these days, in addition to the shops selling essential items, permission has been granted to open clothing shops and other shops selling footwear, electronics, fancy items and jewellery.
