You must have heard about many different types of vitamins like- Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin D, etc. Of these, Vitamin B Complex is an important component for health, which we are going to discuss today. Vitamin B complex is a water-soluble vitamin. Did you know that lack of vitamin B complex in the body can lead to memory loss? Apart from this, one reason for feeling suddenly tired or feeling very stressed can also be a lack of vitamin B complex. Vitamin B complex is one such element, which helps in the proper functioning of the brain and nervous system. Its deficiency can prove to be harmful to health.

Why is Vitamin B Complex Important?

Vitamin B complex increases metabolism. It works by converting food into energy. Apart from this, it helps in making and repairing the genes and DNA found in our cells. It is also helpful in the formation of some elements of the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. Our red blood benefits are also formed from this. It also works to make different types of proteins for all parts of the body.

Signs of Vitamin B Complex Deficiency

Deficiency of vitamin B complex can cause tingling and burning sensation in hands and feet, swelling of the tongue, trouble remembering anything, pale skin, feeling weak, difficulty in walking, unnecessary fatigue, depression, etc. If there is too much deficiency of Vitamin B-12 in the body, then it starts destroying the nerves of the spinal cord. In such a situation, a person may also have an attack of paralysis.

Sources of Vitamin B Complex

Often the question arises that what should we include in our diet so that there is no deficiency of vitamin B complex in the body. Although non-vegetarian foods are rich in vitamin B complex, vegetarians should pay special attention to their diet. Some of the main sources of the vitamin B complex. We should consume dairy products in abundance like milk, curd, paneer, cheese, butter, soy milk, etc. Apart from this, vitamin B is also partially found in underground vegetables such as potatoes, carrots, radishes, turnips, beets, etc.

Vitamin B complex

Vitamin B is not a single element. It is found in many forms. Mainly its number is four- B-1, B-2, B-6, and B-16, etc. These are collectively called 'B-complex'. B-complex is soluble in water like vitamin C (ascorbic acid).

Vitamin- B1

The first member of this group is Thymine. Hence it is called B-1. It keeps the nervous system and digestive systems healthy. Gives the power to fight against germs. Its deficiency leads to loss of appetite. Weakness is felt. A disease called 'beriberi' occurs. The problem of mental imbalance arises. We get it from barley, millet, jowar, maida, rice, soybean, wheat, sprouted grains, porridge, peas, and groundnut.

Vitamin B-12

This vitamin is also called 'riboflavin'. It is essential for the mouth, tongue, and eyes. Due to its deficiency, the tongue becomes red, there are blisters in the mouth. The angles of the mouth burst, and the nostrils become crusty. Eyes become weak. Milk, yeast, cereals, pulses, curd, and green leafy vegetables are the main sources.

Vitamin B-6

It is called 'pyridoxine' in the language of chemistry. It is essential for the skin. Due to its lack, the intellect becomes retarded. There are cramps in the body. It is found in milk, liver, yeast, meat, and cereals.

The chemical name of Vitamin B12 is Cyanocobalamin. It is essential for skin, nerves, tissues, bones, and muscles. Its deficiency causes anemia. It is mainly found in meat, fish, eggs, milk, and cheese.

Other vitamins in the B-complex are nicotinic acid, biotin, pantothenic acid, folic acid, etc.

B-complex can also be consumed in the form of medicine. Vitamin C is also mixed with most vitamin medicines. Many famous brands of B-complex medicines are available. Prominent in which are Cobadex Forte Capsule, B-Flex Forte Tablet, Poly-Vision Syrup and Tablet, Beco Zymci-Forte Tablet, Basilac etc.
