What causes dark spots to appear before the eyes?

Floaters can be a symptom of any serious vision problem. After experiencing these, it is very important to consult an eye doctor and make him aware of the problem. This will enable him to give you better information.

What are eye floaters?

If we try to understand in simple words when we look at any white or sky and in the middle, we start seeing some black, gray, or strange design spots, then they are called eye floaters. These reticular, spots, or ring-shaped vision spots appearing in front of the eyes, can be brown or black in color and feel like stars running in the eyes. When they happen, it seems that it is above that thing but in reality, it is inside our eyes. However, this is very common and does not cause any harm. But it can be due to some condition happening inside the eyes or any recent problem.

What are the symptoms of eye floaters?

Age – It is common to have them after 50. Nearsightedness problem – A person experiences eye floater when it occurs. Inflammation – Swelling, and irritation in the eyes due to infection can lead to eye floaters. Diabetic Neuropathy – Due to sugar, there is damage to the eyes leading to the retina, which can lead to this. Eye Injury – Eye floaters can also occur due to an injury or an accident on the eyes. Other symptoms Spots in the vision that appear as strings, rounds, or black are transparent floats in the eyes. On trying to see them, it becomes visible, otherwise, they quickly move away from the field of vision. These spots are most commonly seen when looking at a plain background such as a white wall or a blue sky.

What are the causes of eye floaters?

Age-related

The most common cause of eye floaters is age-related changes in the vitreous.

The vitreous is a jelly-like substance that fills the eyes and helps maintain the round shape.

With age, partly the vitreous fluid is pulled away from the inner surface of the eye which block the light passing through the eyes in different ways and cast a shadow on the retina.

Swelling behind the eye

Inflammation of the layers of the uvea in the posterior region of the eye is called posterior uveitis.

This can lead to eye floaters.

Posterior uveitis is usually caused by an inflammatory disease or infection.

Bleeding eyes

There can be any number of reasons for bleeding eyes.

There could be some blood vessel injury or problem.
