What is uric acid?

Uric acid is a chemical produced in the body, formed when the body breaks down a chemical called purine. Uric acid is formed in the body from the compounds present in the food. When the amount of uric acid in the body increases, it enters the blood and causes many serious diseases. Why does uric acid increase? - High Uric Acid Causes

A chemical called purine is already present in our body. Apart from this, purine also increases in the body by consuming some foods. When purine is digested, uric acid is released from it. Usually, the kidneys filter uric acid out of the body, but when its amount starts increasing in the body, the kidney is not able to filter it properly. Due to not being filtered properly, uric acid deposits and enters the blood. The process of increasing uric acid in the blood is medically called hyperuricemia. Certain conditions of the body such as diabetes, obesity, blood pressure, etc. are mainly responsible for the increase in uric acid in the body.

Uric Acid Normal Level in Blood

The milligram/dL unit is used to measure the level of uric acid in the body. Most people are not aware of the normal level of uric acid in the body. The average level of uric acid in men

The average level of uric acid in men is considered to be 3.4 to 7.0 mg/dl. In case of more than this, you must consult a doctor.

Blood test for uric acid

The range of uric acid can be different among people according to diet and health conditions. If the level of uric acid in the body increases, a uric acid test must be done after the doctor’s advice. Uric acid in the body is checked through a blood test. The uric acid test is also known as serum urate or uric
