India has over 1.25 billion people, of which 54% are parents. A new section that has entered this group are the millennials. Millennials want to raise their kids unlike their parents’ parenting style of being strict. They often want to establish rapport with their kids and are using more and more online systems to assist and educate the child’s growth and development.
To aid new parents understand and improve their child’s growth Swaroop Madhavan, Dr Manohar Chikkanna and Dhananjay Prabhu started Parentof in August 2015. Parentof is a decision science organization that provides analytics and insights into the child’s growth and development. With the analytics, parents can make more effective parenting decisions.
The venture is able to make such decisions using ARC Engine. ARC or Analysis, Recommendation and Curation platform uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to identify and assess each child’s unique capabilities. Their ARC Engine was made using 25,000+ hours of search and was tested for more than 2 years. It has been certified by the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS).
One can understand their child’s overall growth in diverse fields ranging from academics, neuroscience, psychology, music, medicine, nutrition and more. They are even working to create a system that helps parents engage with experts (paediatricians, psychologists, hobby classes, sports coaching, etc.) based on the growth and unique capability of the child. The venture had acquired Pupilpod, an education management platform from Value Point Group. Their revenues in 2019 were at $0.5 million and they were aiming for $1.5 million at the end of 2020.
They had raised $2 million in seed funding from angel investor V Srinivas and other investors. With the funds, they aimed to develop their technology further and help 10 million parents across India by 2020. They have so far helped over 2 lakh students and have partnered with more than 50 schools. Some of their partners include VIBGYOR High, Presidency Schools, Ryan International School, Edify School, St Paul’s English School, Innisfree House School and more.
Just like parents rely on BYJU’s for education and FirstCry for products, will they start relying on Parentof for child insights?
