Here's one simple lifestyle change that can help you burn more calories than jogging. Learn the benefits of taking the stairs.

One simple lifestyle change can help you burn more calories than jogging. By climbing or descending the stair, one burns more calories than slow-paced jogging. On average 1 calorie is burned for every 10 steps you climb. Which is 8 / 9 times more calories you will burn while sitting.

Here are three more reasons that will highlight the importance of taking stairs instead of the elevator:

1. Increases Muscle Strength

If you desire a healthier and stronger musculoskeletal, then taking the stairs is the best option. It engages the muscles in your legs, back and even arms. Both, going up and down the stairs, helps engage the muscle and tones them. It is great if you want to have a lean and more chiselled figure.

2. Cardiovascular Fitness

Taking stairs is a form of rigorous workout that is short and effective. It engages your entire body, particularly calves, thighs and tummy. This exercise is weight-bearing and thus also helps strengthen the bones. Climbing the stairs can help you build your core muscle strength.

3. Reduces the chance of Stroke

Taking the stairs is an effective way to get the heart pumping. It is a form of short and intense exercise that engages the body, especially if one has a sedentary lifestyle otherwise. Repeated climbing of the stairs can reduce the risk of stroke over time.

Safety Tips -

When taking the stairs it is advisable to never run down the stairs at speed. An accident on stairs can be dangerous. Instead, one can climb up the stairs at full speed.

Many of us plan to do hour-long workouts. Instead, add such smaller activities in your life that are short and effective to challenge your body and get your heart pumping. 30 minutes of taking the stairs is more effective than an hour of brisk walking or jogging.
