CARE Hospitals, Banjara Hills successfully treated a rare and high-risk case of a hidden parathyroid tumour in a 25-year-old cab driver, Shaik Abdul Khader, whose condition had left him bedridden for nearly a year and threatened the livelihood of his entire family.
Hyderabad, 8th December 2025: CARE Hospitals, Banjara Hills successfully treated a rare and high-risk case of a hidden parathyroid tumour in a 25-year-old cab driver, Shaik Abdul Khader, whose condition had left him bedridden for nearly a year and threatened the livelihood of his entire family.
 
The young patient, the only earning member of his household, had gradually lost the ability to stand and walk due to severe metabolic bone disease caused by an undiagnosed parathyroid tumour. His condition worsened with the development of a terminal-stage brown tumour with infection in his right thumb, causing severe pain, swelling, and functional disability.
 
Despite multiple consultations elsewhere, the underlying cause remained undetected until he presented at CARE Hospitals, Banjara Hills. A detailed diagnostic evaluation led by Dr. Sangeeta Jha, Senior Consultant – Surgical Endocrinologist, confirmed the presence of a rare intrathyroidal parathyroid tumour, a condition known for its diagnostic complexity.
 
The tumour was successfully removed through a high-precision surgical intervention. Post-surgery, the patient showed remarkable recovery within just three weeks, with nearly 50% reduction in the brown tumour swelling, resolution of active infection and gradual restoration of mobility and strength.
