Children love Homeopathic treatment as there is no invasive procedures involved and also because medicines are sweet which they love to eat – Dr. Pallavi Kadam, Consulting Homeopath

Dr. Pallavi Kadam, Consulting Homeopath talks about the difference between conventional and homeopathic medicine and how safe it is for everyone including infants and pregnant women.

Homeopathic treatment is an effective method of healing in both acute and chronic conditions, as claimed by millions of patients and thousands of homeopathic doctors. Homeopathy is a medical system based on the belief that the body can cure itself. Medicircle is conducting World Homeopathy Day Awareness Series featuring well-known homeopaths so that they can throw more light upon this medical system.

Dr. Pallavi Kadam is a Consulting Homeopath and Certified Clinical Nutritionist with more than 10 years of clinical experience. She has done her BHMS from Maharashtra University of Health Science, Nashik. She has been associated with Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital and Sahyadri Hospital Pune. Currently, she is working as a Consultant Homeopath at Prime Health Clinic. She also has an online practice.

Difference Between Homeopathy and Conventional Medicine

Dr. Pallavi explains, “Homeopathy is an age-old science which is over 200 years old. It was invented by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann and is based on the principle “likes cure likes”. In the field of homeopathy, the patient is treated as a whole. It is believed that a person as a whole is sick and not just the affected organ. It has a very individualistic approach to every patient. There is no specific medicine for a specific kind of disease in homeopathy. For example, if I'm treating a patient with eczema, while treating him I will not only treat his skin symptoms, but while treating him I will consider his constitution, his likes, and dislikes, stress levels, lifestyle, eating habits, sleeping patterns, etc. and according to that I will provide medicines but in conventional treatment, there is a symptomatic approach. If there is pain in conventional medicine, there is a painkiller, if there is an allergic problem, there is an anti-allergic medicine, etc. Homeopathy treats every disease from its roots and there is no palliation of the diseases. Homeopathic medicines are derived from natural resources. They are in very mild doses. That's why there are no side effects of homeopathy.

Homeopathic medicines are well-proven for a healthy individual. That's why all the subjective, as well as objective symptoms of homeopathy, has been recorded. Both the systems that are homeopathy as well as the conventional system of medicine have their scopes and limitations. If there is a condition of a life-threatening situation or an emergency then conventional medicine acts very well. But while treating a lifestyle disorder like diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disorders, female reproductive disorder, homeopathy works well,” says Dr. Pallavi.

There is treatment of all acute and chronic diseases in homeopathy

Dr. Pallavi mentions, “All kinds of acute as well as chronic disease can be treated with homeopathy like infections, allergic diseases, autoimmune diseases, metabolic disorders, hair problems, skin problems, hormonal issues, pregnancy problems, problems of children and infant, mental health, etc. However, in an emergency, homeopathy has a very limited scope. When there are advanced pathological conditions, when the changes are irreversible, for example in advanced stages of cancer, homeopathy has a limited role.

Children love homeopathic medicine

Dr. Pallavi emphasizes, “Children, as well as infants, can be treated with homeopathy very safely and effectively as medicines are derived from the natural resources, like plants, minerals, etc. They are very minute in doses and are from natural preparation. That's why they do not cause any side effects. They are not chemically induced. They are very safe and very effective for infants and children from day one and can treat all ailments of children. Children love homeopathic treatment as there are no invasive procedures involved and children love having the medicines which are sweet to taste.”

Homeopathy is completely safe for pregnant women

Dr. Pallavi says, “Most of the pregnant women ask doctors, “I am pregnant right now. So, can I continue with my treatment of homeopathy?” They are assured that homeopathic treatment is very effective and safe in pregnancy. There is no harm for a baby so pregnant women can take homeopathic medicine very effective. Homeopathic medicines restore the body's natural tendency and biological systems. That's why even if a woman tends to have repeated miscarriage, it can get restored with homeopathic treatment. Homeopathic treatment is considered very effective in all stages of pregnancy, right from the beginning of the pregnancy towards the end of the pregnancy. If women develop any ailment, they can very well take homeopathic medicine as there is no side effect. They are not chemically induced and they are made up of natural resources and the doses are in very nominal quantities,” says Dr. Pallavi.
