Delhi records 1,859 fresh COVID-19 infections, 1,837 fatalities

The COVID-19 death toll within the National capital of India mounted to 1,837 this Tuesday while 1,859 fresh Coronavirus cases surged the count in Delhi to over 44,000-mark, consistent with the health bulletin released by the Delhi government. Fatalities from COVID-19 in Delhi stood at 1,400 on Monday.

Ninety-three fatalities are recorded within the last 24 hours, the Delhi Health Department bulletin said. However, the bulletin also said the cumulative figure included all pending deaths reported to and audited by the Death Audit Committee.

From June 12-14, over 2,000 cases were reported per day within the city. the spike of 2,224 fresh cases was recorded on June 14. The bulletin said the count from Coronavirus infection has climbed to 1,837, and therefore the total number of cases mounted to 44,688.
ICMR is continuously scaling up its testing facilities for COVID-19 by giving approval to government and personal laboratories. As of now, a total of 924 laboratories across India is given the approval to conduct the test for COVID-19 including 674 government laboratories and 250 private laboratories' chains. ICMR said that a complete of 1 63,187 tests of Coronavirus samples were conducted by the varied laboratories within the country in 24 hours. This is the highest number of tests conducted by the laboratories during a single day. So far, 60,84,256 tests are conducted.

Union Government today said that the recovery rate has reached to 52.79% across the country and an overall 1,86,935 people affected with Coronavirus have cured thus far. During the last 24 hours, 6922 people recover from this virus. Presently, the total count of active COVID-19 cases within the country is 1,55,227.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with 21 States and Union Territories through video conferencing. During his interaction, the Prime Minister observed that timely decisions taken to combat the pandemic are effective in containing its spread within the country. He said, its early preparedness approach helped the country to sketch measures to save lots of lives.
Mr. Modi said, when India's fight against COVID-19 is going to be analysed in the future, the time is going to be remembered for the way Centre and States worked together to fight the pandemic. The Prime Minister said they need to present an example for cooperative federalism to the planet. Mr. Modi said that even one loss of life for Coronavirus is saddening and therefore the nation shouldn't lower its guard even during the unlock. He urged every citizen to strictly follow all necessary precautions including wearing masks, maintaining Do Gaj ki Doori and washing hands regularly with soap. Mr. Modi said they need tried to save each life.

The Prime Minister said despite the fact that India features a huge population, Coronavirus has not assumed as life-threatening as in the other part of the planet. He said that health experts worldwide are praising the discipline shown by Indians, adding that the recovery rate within the country is now over 50%. He also noted that India is amongst the nations with the smallest amount deaths thanks to coronavirus.

In the two-day interaction, yesterday witnessed participation of States and Union Territories including Punjab, Assam, Kerala, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Goa, Manipur, Nagaland, Ladakh, Puducherry, Arunachal Pradesh among others.
