How to prevent hearing loss?

Causes and Prevention of hearing loss

It is okay to use the earphones occasionally while in a Zoom meeting, playing games, listening to songs, or talking to someone. But using it for a long time is not a good sign for your ears. The human ear has a hearing capacity of up to 90 decibels, and if you have been listening to songs at high volumes for a long time, your hearing may drop as low as 40 to 50 decibels. So listen to songs at low volume and instead of earphones, you should use headphones as they sound outside the ears.

Continuous use of poorly fitting earphones can cause pain in your ears. Also, due to the loud sound, your eardrums can be damaged.

Excessive use of earphones can lead to headaches, stress, and insomnia as it emits electromagnetic waves which can have a bad effect on your brain, causing you to complain of sleeplessness throughout the night. So avoid using earphones for a long time.

Using earphones can cause ear infections. This happens because of the dirt accumulated in the earphones. Therefore, do not use any other person's earphones and do not give earphones to other people for use. This puts the ear at risk of infection, which can cause swelling or pain.

If you have a habit of listening to a song with a loud sound in earphones or headphones, then your heart can be harmed due to this loud noise. Along with the melodies of the song, your heartbeat also keeps on increasing, which can put you at risk of a heart attack.

  • Use speakers instead of earphones while talking on the phone.
  • Do not share your earphones with anyone. This can increase the risk of infection.
  • Do not use earphones for more than 1 hour and listen on low volume.
  • Do not use poor-quality earphones.
  • Use headphones instead of earphones.
