Prime Minister Narendra Modi imposes a complete lockdown across India to apparently slow down the spread of the Coronavirus. The lockdown came into effect from Tuesday midnight and it is scheduled for 21 days.
PM assured regular supplies of necessary items but people throngs stores to reserve heavy quantity of groceries and other necessary goods, witnessed in Delhi, and other cities. This lockdown is assumed imminent following a sharp increase in cases in recent days. India counts 519 confirmed cases and 10 reported deaths due to Coronavirus.
India with a population of 1.3bn is in tandem with the growing list of countries that have undertaken similar measures. Around 400,000 people are tested positive across the globe, and around 17,000 died worldwide.
