Today, the world is celebrating International Men’s Day on 19th November 2022. Let us check out the theme, importance, and significance of International Men’s Day.

Some people are a very important part of life. Let's take some time out today on this International Men’s Day to thank the men in your life who play a major role in the form of a father, brother, son, husband, grandfather, mentor, guide, friend, colleague, and many more. Medicircle takes an initiative on this International Men’s Day to value the backbone of our family and society by thanking all the men in our community for contributing support towards mankind.

Why is International Men’s Day observed?

International Men’s Day is observed on 19th November 2022 to honor and appreciate the positive value men bring in your family, community, society, and the world.

The theme of International Men’s Day

This year International Men’s Day will be observed on Saturday, 19 November 2022 under the theme “Helping Men and Boys.”

International Men’s Day helps recognize and celebrate the essence of manhood for all boys and men across the world. This day is celebrated towards the recognition of the contributions to the union, society, nation, community, family, marriage, childcare, and other relationships. The aim is to promote the basic awareness of men’s issues regarding health, care, justice, and building strong relationships.

History of International Men’s Day

Thomas Oaster was a director of the Missouri Centre of Men’s Studies, and in the early 1990s, he invited organizations from the US, Australia, and Malata to conduct small events to build awareness among people to value men on International Men’s Day. Oaster took an initiative to recognize and bring about an awareness about men’s duties and responsibilities towards family, society, and nation. Oaster went ahead and hosted many events for two years to provide a strong platform for men to raise their concerns and make them aware of their roles, responsibilities, and duties. However, International Men’s Day was soon discontinued later.

In 1999, Jerome Teelucksingh revived the day and realized that there is no day to celebrate men, young boys, and teenagers. He also brought out awareness in the world about the importance of male role models and chose to celebrate International Men’s Day on November 19th. This also marked the birth anniversary of this father, who was considered his role model.
