Aakash Healthcare Super Specialty Hospital, New Delhi, has taken a significant step forward in revolutionizing cardiovascular care through its recent collaboration with Japan, in partnership with Dr. Ashish Agarwal. The hospital hosted a cutting-edge workshop that focused on advanced surgical interventions in complex cardiovascular procedures, particularly Chronic Total Occlusions (CTO). This collaborative initiative marked a pivotal moment in global medical education, with the goal of enhancing patient outcomes worldwide.

Notably, the workshop featured a special collaboration with Dr. Ashish Agarwal, a renowned figure in the field of interventional cardiology. Dr. Agarwal, along with the esteemed Japanese medical team, shared their expertise in treating the most challenging cases of CTO, bringing together the best of international knowledge and innovation, including an in-depth analysis of complex cases.

“By hosting this groundbreaking workshop, we are empowering doctors around the world to tackle complex cardiovascular conditions with cutting-edge techniques,” said Dr. Aashish Chaudhry, Managing Director, Aakash Healthcare. “The collaboration with our Japanese colleagues, along with the participation of top-tier international experts, has allowed us to raise the bar in the way complex cardiac cases are approached and treated globally,” he added.

The workshop highlighted the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing in advancing healthcare standards. The opportunity for global cardiologists to engage with one another, share experiences, and learn from the best in the field was a cornerstone of this collaboration.

Dr. Wataru Nagamatsu, a prominent Japanese cardiologist, emphasized the significance of such educational collaborations, stating, “The increasing prevalence of heart diseases worldwide requires a skilled and highly trained medical community. Japan is proud to collaborate with Dr. Agarwal and Aakash Healthcare in sharing expert guidance in this unique procedure. We are confident that this partnership will make a lasting impact on cardiovascular care globally.”

Aakash Healthcare, with its ongoing commitment to world-class medical education and patient care, remains at the forefront of efforts to improve the standard of cardiovascular treatment globally. By offering opportunities for knowledge-sharing and skill development, the hospital is ensuring that future generations of cardiologists are equipped with the expertise necessary to deliver exceptional patient care.

The partnership between Aakash Healthcare, Dr. Agarwal, and the esteemed Japanese medical team is just one example of how international collaboration in the medical field can lead to lasting improvements in patient care. This initiative will undoubtedly have a profound impact on the future of cardiovascular care, empowering physicians to adopt the latest techniques and provide the best possible treatment to patients around the world.

The first case involved a gentleman who had previously undergone PTCA at another center and later presented with complaints of chest pain on exertion. A check angiogram revealed a 100% chronically occluded old stent. Using the most advanced hardware under the leadership of Dr. Ashish Agarwal, and with the knowledge sharing of the Japanese operator, we successfully reopened his artery, which is a major blood vessel of the heart.

Another patient presented with a major heart attack. We used intravascular imaging, which revealed a type of spontaneous dissection. With imaging guidance, we were accurately able to deploy a stent and open the large blood vessel supplying the heart. Both patients are now stable and being discharged.

Both cases demonstrated the high skills of interventional cardiology and the state-of-the-art hardware and cath lab available at Aakash Healthcare under the guidance of our esteemed Director of Cardiology, Dr. Ashish Agarwal, a stalwart in this field. Dr. Nikhil Jha, a key member of our team, was also present during the procedures, contributing to the success of these complex interventions.

This Indo-Japanese collaboration represents a new milestone in this field, especially for West Delhi and Dwarka, as it enables cardiac patients to receive successful treatment, even for the most complex cases.
