India’s leading educational institute, the Lexicon Group has acquired multinational gym chain MultiFit Gym. The value of the deal was undisclosed. MultiFit Gym operates in India, the UK and 24 other destinations. The venture is regarded as India’s Largest Functional Fitness & Strength Training Brand.
Nasir Shaikh, CEO, The Lexicon Group of Institutes and MultiFit, says they have aggressive expansion plans for MultiFit and the chain would have 200 centres in five years in India and globally. Of these 200 centres, 30 would be run by them while the rest would be under the franchise operations.
With the acquisition of the gym chain, the Lexicon group aims to provide a holistic wellness and fitness services to India and other international countries. Unline other gyms, MultiFit Gym focuses on creating long-lasting habits that make the journey towards fitness more sustainable. It focuses more on exercise and diet instead of building muscles.
For their ecosystem, they are planning to train and certify youth through their MultiFit Exercise and Science Academy. This would help people get ready for gym-related jobs. This will come up in Pune and a few other parts of the country. Last month, even Cult.fit had acquired Gold’s Gym’s India-side of operation.
