Now you may not think twice before having a second go at coffee and tea as it is found that consumption of caffeine actually controls weight gain and keeps cholesterol level under check by blunting the effects of a diet containing high sugar and fats.
An experiment conducted on rats revealed that the rats that were administered caffeine dosages and tea along with a diet high in carbs and low on protein for four weeks in a row, lost a significant amount of body fat. It was observed that the fat absorption went down by 22% and weight gain slowed by 16%.
The researchers claimed that these findings can be scaled according to the human model to further explore the efficacy of caffeine containing beverages in aiding weight loss and cholesterol control.
