Update on COVID-19 situation across India.
Coronavirus: Special train for stranded migrant labourers to reach Jharkhand's Hatia from Telangana
A special train carrying stranded migrant labourers began its journey on Friday from Lingampally in Telangana to Hatia in Jharkhand.The special 24-coach train began its journey at 5 am in the morning and is expected to reach Hatia by 11 pm tonight.
It may be noted that further trains for transporting migrants “shall be planned only as per the directions of Ministry of Railways and on request from both originating and destination state governments” said the authorities.
All necessary precaution such as prior screening and social distancing was followed before passengers boarded the special train.
Covid-19 lockdown: Delhi cops can't enter Haryana anymore.
Following the directions of Haryana government, the movements of Delhi Police personnel to Haryana's adjoining cities have been completely banned from Wednesday.
Ashok Kumar, SSP of Jhajjar district said, "Our district was in green zone until three days earlier and now we have five positive Covid cases. A police personnel of Delhi who is a native of Jhajjar had come here a few days ago and infected 4 of his family members. So, we are not allowing any Delhi cop to enter Jhajjar district."
India sees biggest jump with nearly 2,000 new coronavirus cases as lockdown nears end.
India has seen the biggest single day spike in coronavirus cases with almost 2,000 new cases being detected across states, taking the total to over 35,000.
According to the latest Health Ministry data, 1,993 new coronavirus cases have been detected in 24 hours while the death toll has gone up by 73. The total death toll in India now stands at 1,147.
This comes even as the Centre's nationwide lockdown nears an end on May 3
