In Odisha, covid-19 sample tests crossed forty five lakh mark yesterday.

In Odisha, covid-19 sample tests crossed forty five lakh mark yesterday. On the other hand, more number of people are recovering from the virus on a daily basis than those getting infected. While 1800 patients were reported cured yesterday taking the total recovery to 273838, 1547 people were found positive carrying forward the cumulative caseload to 288646.

Just a month ago, Odisha had been reporting a high of 4 thousand plus cases everyday with the active caseload shooting up beyond 30 thousand. However, with public awareness on the vanguard, the virus is now in for a turnaround as evident from the current active caseload being slashed down by half to around 15 thousand.

A significant cause behind the viral recession in the state could be the increased immune defence in people as revealed by the third serro-survey in capital Bhubaneswar. The Regional Medical Research Centre-led survey  between October 16 to 18 last, has found about 50% of the residents of the capital city developing antibodies against the virus after being exposed to it.

The survey has also revealed that as much as 90% of the infected people had less or no symptoms at all. It merits a mention here that the state capital Bhubaneswar has been the chief contributor to the covid-19 caseload of the state.
