Parents’ Unconscious Behaviour make Make 15% Children too sensitive, 5% end up with drug abuse

Bengaluru, Sep 2024- Nurturing Souls, a leading organization dedicated to supporting families in nurturing healthy and conscious parenting practices, has released a groundbreaking study that points to one reality: actions of parents—big or small—are majorly a prelude to shaping the child's behavior running on the societal fabric. The study, which covered over 1200 families across India, shows that parents' lack of awareness over their actions can set disturbing behavior patterns in children, especially in the age group of 8 to 18.

A child spends most of his time at school and the rest with his parents. When the parents act in the absence of full awareness, their behaviors sometimes turn fatal to their children’s well-being. Out of 1200 while 50% of children did not show any sign of issues, the research identified some behaviors in children that have a strong connection with the actions of the parents. These include drug abuse (5%), getting involved in dangerous love relationships as they attempt to attract love and emotional comfort (10%), shouting frequently (5%) becoming socially withdrawn (8%) being too sensitive or critical (15%) and general confusion (7%).

The study concludes by making observations that it isn't just about what parents believe, they ought to sit and jointly explore with their children what works, instead of dictating their rules of right and wrong. By allowing children to grow without the burden of their parents' biases, and by providing the necessary support, parents can help their children develop into confident and emotionally healthy individuals.

Nurturing Souls is dedicated to further research and resources for families to understand what conscious parenting is about. Its objective is to conduct workshops, counseling, and support to help parents grapple with the challenges of nurturing children in a complex world.
