Kerala news updates for the pandemic | June 3rd

In the coming days, the Kerala government is planning to use Robots for disinfection, monitoring, and communication purpose thus cutting out human exposure to the pandemic. Bodhi a prototype robot built by Dr. Rajesh Kannan Megalingam, director of the Humanitarian Technology Lab at Amrita University’s Coimbatore campus could disinfect, communicate and monitor while others like contact-free wheelchair robot can transport Covid patients, as well as a robot that could deliver drugs and food to patients in the isolation wards.

In Kerala  57 Coronavirus cases were reported today. Sulekha, 56, from Kozhikode who died yesterday, recently came back from the Gulf. With this, the death toll in the state reached ten.

Today, 55 positive cases were reported and the latest numbers in the state are: Kasaragod 14, Malappuram 14, Thrissur 9, Kollam 5, Pathanamthitta 4, Thiruvananthapuram 3, Ernakulam 3, Alappuzha 2, Palakkad 2, Idukki 1, the test results were positive.28 came from other states. One is an Air India staff and the other one is a health worker. The state government said Malappuram, Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, Palakkad, Kozhikkode, Wayanad and Kannur Vietnam were the worst affected.

So far, 1326 persons have been diagnosed with the disease in the state. Of those, 708 are currently undergoing treatment. 1,39,661 people are currently under surveillance while 1,38,397 are held in homes or institutional quarantines. A total of 1246 people were hospitalized with 174 people admitted to the hospital today. So far, 68,979 samples have been sent for testing, and a total of 65,273 cases have been confirmed. So far, 1,374 samples of the priority category have been collected as part of Sentinel Surveillance and 13037 have been negative. Currently, there are 121 hotspots in the state with 5 hotspots each  in Palakkad and Kannur districts

In the latest news,  9 Keralites died due to the pandemic in foreign countries. So far, 210 people have died and the number is increasing day by day. To decrease the rate of infections, restrictions such as curfew for 24 hours in containment areas are planned by the authorities. Travel only for matters related to medical needs and the death of family members. For this, citizens have to get a pass from the nearest police station. A 15-day temporary pass will be issued to workers returning to Kerala from neighboring states on a daily basis. The pass is issued from the concerned police station.

There are 3075 incidents of masks not being reported in the state today. A case has been registered against 7 persons who violated the quarantine today.

Advice on Lockdown Concessions

According to the state government, there are several restrictions and concessions which will be applicable during the forthcoming unlockdown. Read on to figure out how it affects you - 

In the Guruvayur temple,  50 people can be allowed to attend weddings. The wedding ceremonies and other halls will allow 50 people to attend the wedding ceremony.

The government thinks that the normal opening of schools should be done in or after July. The matter will be discussed with the central government. The opinion of the State on the exemptions to be granted after the 8th day shall be informed to the Central Government.

There will be a full lockdown in the containment zone. It will remain as it is today until June 30.

To enter from outside the state, citizens have to register with the portal and take the pass. If people come in without registering it could result in a police case.

Inter-city bus service may be allowed on a limited scale. Bus services will be available between two adjacent districts. 

In addition to the driver of the car, three people can travel. Two passengers will be allowed in the auto.

Cinema shooting can be done inside the studio and indoor location by meeting safety standards. But not more than 50 people are allowed while for indoor shooting number is 25.
