Tips to stay healthy in monsoon season

One of the primary reasons various common monsoon diseases enter our bodies is due to a weakened immune system. For good health, a balanced diet is essential. Here are some smart tips for a healthy diet in the monsoon.

The monsoon season has arrived, bringing cool rains and a much-needed respite from the oppressively hot summer. But a variety of health problems are also brought on by this season. The monsoon season is characterized by a high prevalence of illnesses spread by mosquitoes, including dengue fever, malaria, seasonal flu, and typhoid. Additionally, monsoon-related diseases may be even more distressing to your general health at this point in the COVID-19 Pandemic, which is already wreaking devastated on your health. You must therefore make sure that the nutrition and immunity levels of the food you eat are balanced.

Since immunity is currently the operative word, all we need to do is ensure that our innate immune system is capable of safeguarding us. Therefore, eating well and being optimistic are the best courses of action.

If you are into fitness and you generally depend a lot on fish and green leafy vegetables, this season your diet needs to be altered.

Healthy Eating Advice for the Rainy Season

  • Consume Seasonal Fruits:

 To boost your immune system during the rainy season, some of the best fruits to eat are apples, jamuns, litchi, plums, cherries, peaches, papayas, pears, and pomegranates. Do not consume watermelon or muskmelon.

  • Reduce Your Salt Intake: 

Salt increases blood pressure and causes water retention, both of which could become more serious during the rainy season. You ought to reduce your salt intake as a result.

  • Eat less watery food:

 Foods like rice, watermelon, buttermilk, lassi, and other items can make you swollen. Eliminating these foods will prevent water retention.

  • Garlic: 

A small amount of garlic in your food will help to strengthen your immune system.

  • Curd instead of Milk: 

Instead of milk, choose curd or yogurt to prevent the entry of harmful bacteria into the body.

  • Boil Water:

Prefer only boiled or purified water. Avoid drinking tap water directly.

  • Bitter foods are preferable: 

Adding neem, turmeric, bitter gourd, and methi to your diet can aid in preventing infections.

  • Limit Meat:

 If you are a strict meat eater, cut back on meat for a few months. Consider soups and stews instead of hearty meat curries.

  • Steam salad: 

Avoid eating raw salad during the rainy season and make sure to steam it first.

  • Kadha:

 A decoction made with ingredients like ginger, tulsi, and a dash of healing spices like cloves, pepper, cinnamon, and cardamom can provide relief for those who experience infections and fever during the rainy season.

  • Avoid Street Food: 

Pre-cut fruit, fried food, junk food, or any street food should be avoided completely.
