Constipation can be of different kinds. It can vary from acute to chronic. According to a survey, 14% of the urban population were found to be suffering from chronic constipation. There are some home remedies which are considered best to treat this condition

Constipation is a small word but people suffering from constipation problems know how this can disturb their day-to-day activity. Constipation can affect any age group. Because of constipation, people tend to suffer from skin problems along with physical problems. Thus you need to change some of your habits to get relief from this. There are certain habits due to which we get this problem. Constipation can vary from acute to chronic types like regular constipation, chronic constipation, and age-related constipation. During constipation, our intestine is unable to leave feces.

Lemon water – Lemon water helps in removing toxins from our bodies. Prepare a glass of lemon water by adding honey and lemon juice and drink it.

Milk and curd – It is necessary to have good bacteria in the stomach to overcome the problem of constipation. You will get probiotics from plain curd, so you must eat 1-2 cups of curd daily. If you are very much distressed, add 1 teaspoon of ghee to a glass of milk and drink at night, it will be very much helpful.

Ayurvedic Triphala – Take 2-3 Triphala churna with water before sleeping, it will be beneficial. It is a mixture of three fruits – amla, haritaki, and vibhitaki. These three are good for the stomach. Triphala starts working at night. 

The fiber in food – A woman needs an average of 25 gm fiber a day and a man needs 30-35 gm daily. To get your digestive system on track, you have to make sure that you consume daily fiber according to your requirement.

Flax seeds (Alsi) – These are known for their fiber content and can help relieve constipation.

Diet tips to avoid constipation

Avoid foods that contain white flour.

Eat small meals every 2 hours. Have your dinner at least 3-4 hours before going to bed.

Include fruits and veggies in your daily foods.

Include condiments like cumin, turmeric, and asafetida while cooking as it promotes digestion.

Start your day with a glass of lukewarm water. Drink 8 glasses of water a day. Try to incorporate the practice of drinking lukewarm water or room temperature water and avoid chilled water.

Castor oil – It acts as a natural laxative. It increases the movement in the intestine and helps to clean them out.

Baking soda – sodium bicarbonate reacts with acid present in the stomach and produces salt, carbon dioxide, and water. This accelerates bowel movements and cleanses the colon.
