World Pharmacist Day 2022:History, Importance & Theme

Along with doctors, pharmacists also play a big role in making us healthy and eliminating various diseases. So, let us take a pledge to thank Pharmacists around the world.

Who is a Pharmacist?

Pharmacists are also called 'chemists'. This is a person who has complete knowledge about medicines.

When is World Pharmacist Day celebrated?

World Pharmacist Day is celebrated internationally every year on 25 September under the leadership of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), its purpose is to thank all the pharmacists of the world and highlight their work.

Along with this, World Pharmacist Week is organized from 19 to 25 September. Pharmacists are always ready for the welfare of the people.

History of World Pharmacist Day

Since 2009, every year on 25 September, this day dedicated to the pharmacists who play an important role in the health sector is celebrated as World Pharmacist Day to honor them and highlight their contributions.

It was started in the year 2009 by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) in Istanbul (Turkey). The date of 25 September was chosen as this day was considered the founding day of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) formed in 1912.

Since then every year FIP members participate in World Pharmacist Day to raise awareness about the activities of pharmacists.

Why celebrate World Pharmacist Day (Purpose)?

The main objective of celebrating World Pharmacist Day is to honor pharmacists around the world by highlighting the important contributions they have made in the health sector.

Along with this, the purpose of celebrating this day is also to provide an opportunity to promote the pharmacy profession.

By celebrating this day dedicated to pharmacists around the world, we give this message to all those pharmacists about how important they are to us.

The theme of World Pharmacist Day 2022

Every year this day is based on a specific theme which is decided by the International Pharmaceutical Federation. This year the theme of International Pharmacists Day 2022 is "Pharmacy united in action for a healthier world".

Importance of Pharmacist

Pharmacists play an important role in improving the health of many individuals

Pharmacists not only give advice about medicines, but along with this they also do the work of distributing medicines and vaccinations.

Along with this, they also train, discover and research new medicines, which is why they are also considered medical experts. At the same time, the work of ensuring whether a medicine is safe and effective is also on their shoulders.

Not only this, but they should also be aware of all types of medicines which include tablets, capsules, drops, inhalers, liquids, and injections. In addition, a qualified pharmacist should be aware of how different medicines react with each other.
