36 month old baby and 7 weeks old infant boy discharged from Sion Hospital in Mumbai after being treated for COVID-19

36 days old baby who was tested positive for COVID-19, has been cured and discharged from Sion Hospital in Mumbai.

After recovering from coronavirus, the doctors and health workers clapped for the newborn baby defeated had defeated the deadly disease at Sion hospital in Mumbai. This is one of those positive cases which gives some amount of hope that anyone can recover from COVID-19.

Reports said that, the baby had got infected from the mother. It is being regarded as a positive news amidst all negative reports from the city. Maharashtra has reported maximum number of cases of the novel coronavirus and Mumbai has been severely affected with highest number of cases in the state.

CM Uddhav Thackeray posted the video of the doctors and health workers clapped for the newborn on Twitter, "For people of Maharashtra, age is no bar when it comes to putting up a fight. 36 days old baby recovered from COVID-19 at Sion Hospital in Mumbai. Kudos to the team of Doctors, Nurses & Ward Boys".

The video has received over 300k views ever since it was made available online. The comments section was flooded and people called it a "ray of hope." Several users also appreciated the tireless service of healthcare workers amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Sion Hospital also gave a warm farewell to it’s toughest and youngest fighters. A seven weeks old baby boy who was diagnosed with COVID-19 and was also being operated for brain haemorrhage. He has shown miraculous recovery.

“It’s wonderful to see this 2.5kg COVID-19 positive child, who was unconscious, critical and on ventilator support just a week ago and is now fully conscious, playful, feeding well and moving all his limbs normally.” said Dr. Alok Sharma, head of department of neurosurgery at the hospital, who had led the nerve-wracking complex surgery to drain out clotted blood from the infant’s brain.

The baby was admitted in the hospital in May 13 after developing fever and persevering cough and cold. Two days after he was admitted, the infant was tested positive for COVID-19.

The treatment got complicated after he began suffering convulsions on May 17. CT scan revealed a subdural haematoma on the left side of the head.
The infant is one of the nine COVID-19 positive children below the age of 1 at Sion hospital. A dedicated team, with pediatrics working 24x7 has been set aside for these children.
