5 Home remedies to treat ringworm

Learn some natural and home-made remedies for ringworms

Ringworms are common in children but adults can get it too. It can be pretty irritating. It causes itchiness and flakiness. It comes as a ring-like appearance of the rash. Fungus-causing ringworm is highly contagious. There are various anti-bacterial and antifungal creams that you can use to treat ringworm, but if you want to try something more natural and homemade, there are some great home remedies you can try.

Turmeric – It has many medicinal properties. From antiseptic to anti-inflammatory, people are getting aware of its healing properties. It can be used in face masks, arthritis, etc. To get rid of ringworm, mix about half a teaspoon of turmeric with some coconut oil. Once it’s mixed well, apply it to the infected skin.

Aloe vera – It has antibacterial and antiseptic properties. Its goodness is in its leaves. If you’re dealing with ringworm, break off a piece of a leaf and rub it on the fungus. If you don’t have an aloe vera plant at home, you can easily get aloe vera gel from the market.

Epsom salt – Epsom salt and warm water make a great natural exfoliant and antifungal treatment. Basically, it is magnesium sulfate. It is good in removing any moisture on which fungus might thrive. To treat ringworm, take ¼ cup of Epsom salt and a cup of warm water. Apply regularly and generously.

Eucalyptus oil - Eucalyptus oil is a great natural way to treat fungal infections. The oil is great for your skin and its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties will kill the fungus, plus it has a wonderful fresh smell. Add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to some warm water and apply to the affected area.

Tea tree oil – It is good for antibacterial and antifungal treatment. Its anti-fungal properties make it a great ingredient to combat ringworm. Dilute a few drops of the oil in water. Then dab some onto a cotton ball and apply to the affected area. Do this two to three times a day for effective results.
