7 Heart friendly tips for women to prevent CVDs

Cardiovascular diseases are becoming the leading cause of death in our country. A healthy lifestyle can minimize the risk of CVDs to a larger extent. Here are some healthy lifestyle tips so as to prevent any CVDs

Cardiovascular diseases are diseases related to heat such as heart attack, stroke, angina, CAD, and more. These are getting so common that CVD is becoming the leading cause of death in the country. The occurrence of these diseases is not based on age or gender. An unhealthy lifestyle is the main causing factor for most CVDs.

In India, around 50% of women are having high cholesterol levels. CVD affects women of all generations. Thus, it becomes important to keep a close check in monitoring heart health. As most heart diseases go unchecked because of the absence of early signs and symptoms, it becomes significant to take preventative steps. Here are some steps that will help you avoid any kind of CVD.

Manage your cholesterol - High cholesterol increases the chances of cardiovascular diseases. Hence, managing your cholesterol at a normal level can very well prevent them. Avoid foods that are high in salt and oil.

Heart-friendly food – It includes fruits and vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy, omega 3 fatty acids. If you start eating these, they can do wonders for your health. Avoid any kind of processed foods because they are high in salt and sugar.

Quality sleep – An average adult needs 7-9 hours of sleep per day. While we sleep, our body and mind repair and restore. As per the studies, lack of quality sleep increases the risk of high blood pressure thereby causing heart diseases. So, try to balance your work and life.

Exercise – Doing 30 minutes of moderate to intense exercise daily can improve the functions of the heart and promote heart health. Running, fast pace walking, swimming are examples of aerobic exercise that can improve blood circulation and help in keeping the heart healthy for a longer period.

Stay away from stress – Stress can raise the body's blood pressure. Stress can increase the cravings for unhealthy foods which can have a direct effect on our heart. Try to relax your mind with relaxation techniques. You can do yoga, meditation, and visit nature green places. Doing yoga regularly can aid in reducing mental stress thereby keeping the heart stable.

BMI – Maintaining the right BMI as per your age, weight, and height can help in avoiding diseases like diabetes which further prevents the occurrence of CVDs.

Regular heart checkups – Women from 30 years of age should regularly check their cholesterol, blood pressure, and diabetes levels. They should also be checked for heart diseases.

A healthy lifestyle can prevent all these diseases. Try to incorporate healthy eating habits, regular exercise, and sound sleep into your daily life. If you have a family history of heart diseases, then get health checkups done regularly.
