What is the sinus?

Sinus is actually a cavity filled with air in the skull, which helps in breathing air to our head. Inhaled air passes through this sac to the lungs. This pouch prevents the dirt that comes with the air, i.e. dust and other types of dirt.

When the passage of a person's sinuses gets blocked, the passage of mucus also gets blocked, causing a disease called sinusitis. In case of sinus infection, its membrane becomes swollen, due to which the air filled in the membrane is filled with pus or mucus, etc. and the sinuses get closed.
