Consequences of eating over spicy food – Enjoy heat in moderation

Indian cuisine is full of spicy foods. Everybody reacts distinctly to the spices. But do you know there are some very surprising good and bad effects of eating spicy foods

Spices are added to our food to improve the taste. Indians love masaledar khana that contains a generous amount of spices and red chili. You will find different types of spicy food in every state. Everyone has a different way of making them, but do you know that eating more spicy food can cause many stomach-related problems. Eating spicy foods may have gastrointestinal tract feel, heat the most. The main reason behind these problems is the presence of high acidic content in spicy food, although spices provide many vitamins and nutrients which are present in abundance but consuming them in excess can have a bad effect on our body. There are some benefits but a lot more side effects.

Loss of appetite – It is okay to consume spicy food in moderation. You can eat 2 or 3 times a week but consuming it daily can have a bad effect on your body. If you eat more spicy food, you may experience a loss of appetite.

Gastric ulcers – Eating spicy foods can aggravate ulcers in the sensitive vacuole lining or the small intestine. These ulcers are excruciatingly painful. It causes abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and weight loss. 

Burning in the stomach - Eating over spicy food, feels like your internal body is on fire, a burning sensation can be felt in the stomach, due to which you may feel restless. 

Acid reflux – Spices are a combination of acids and when these are added to the acidic content of the stomach, it starts damaging the wall of the stomach.

Acute gastritis – Gastritis is caused due to inflammation of gastric mucosa, a membrane that lines the stomach. Acute gastritis has symptoms like vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, headache, fever along blood in stools.

Damages taste buds – Our tongue feels scorched after eating a fiery meal. But it is temporary and gets regenerated quickly. But if you eat too much spicy food, it can cause permanent damage to your taste buds.

Improves metabolism

Spicy food should not be eaten late at night. If you are facing digestive problems due to spicy food, then immediately stop eating them. Minimize the consumption of spicy foods to stop damaging your stomach. The best way to have them is to take them in moderation that is good for your overall health.
