Many of us are suffering from deficiencies. To gain that extra nourishment should one consume vegetables smoothies or fruit juices?

Juices and smoothies are popular options for people looking to gain extra nourishment and boost their health. Fruits and veggies provide natural sugar along with vitamins, minerals and fibre. Juices and smoothies can also aid your weight loss journey without compromising on your nutritional intake. A rule everyone must have is to use homemade juices and smoothies instead of using pre-made and packaged ones.

It is often noted that many people are suffering from deficiencies. This is true because we fill our stomachs more with junk food than actual healthy food. For this having smoothies or juices can add the nourishment we often don’t get from our diet.

Advantages of Fruit Juices

Consuming fruit juices can help increase the levels of vitamin C, vitamin E and more. Fruits can give skin a healthy and natural glow. Fruits juices are good options for staying hydrated and nourished. This is a good way to prevent the risk of kidney stones. It can also prevent a life-threatening disease like cancer.

Advantages of Vegetable Smoothy

Consumption of vegetables can help you gain antioxidants, beta carotene and other essential vitamins and minerals. Smoothies can help fill you up without the added sugar and fat. It can also be a great option for detoxification. It can help get rid of heartburn or acid reflux due to its alkaline nature. Green smoothies have a great amount of calcium, magnesium, phosphorous and manganese to make your bones, teeth, hair and skin healthy.

Fruit Juice vs Vegetable Smoothies

If your goal is to lose weight, then vegetable smoothies are a better option for you. Fruits contain more sugar and thus have a higher calorie count. If one is a diabetic patient then them consuming fruit juices can increase their blood sugar. Many fruits are acidic in nature while most vegetables are alkaline. Smoothies can hence balance the pH of your body.

A general rule of thumb is to have 8 parts vegetables and 2 parts fruits as a sweetener instead of using actual sugar. While juicing we eliminate the fibre from the juice. This decreases our fibre intake. Hence doctors often recommend eating fruits and vegetables instead of drinking them.
