We sleep for 7 to 8 hours which means 1/3 of our day goes by sleeping. As such the position we maintain for this long stretch of time matters. Here is the best sleeping position for you.

Sleeping is an essential routine that helps our body and mind recharge and relax. We should sleep for around 7 to 8 hours. This means 1/3 of our day goes by sleeping. As such the position we maintain for this long stretch of time matters. The position we sleep in affects our body and can either cause body pain or reduce it. Depending on your body type and medical history, one must alter their sleeping position. Here are three sleeping positions and how they can help you.


Sleeping on your back

Sleeping on your back has the most benefits. When you lay flat down on your spine it helps create the least stress on your spine. One important thing to remember is to keep a small pillow under your knee. By keeping this pillow it helps maintain the natural flow of your body. If you suffer from back issues then sleeping flat on your back can help. By staying on your back your face will come in no contact with the pillow which will help you get fewer wrinkles and acne. However, the position is not suitable for people with the problem of snoring. 

Sleeping on your side

Many of us are highly comfortable sleeping on one side. This position is good if you suffer from indigestion, gas and snoring. By sleeping on your left side your heart and stomach remain comfortable. On the contrary sleeping on your right is not good. Keep a small pillow between your legs to have a better hip alignment. This position is better suited if you want to take a nap. Sleeping on the side for 8 hours can cause shoulder pain and neck pain

Sleeping in a fetal position. 

The fetal position is recommended for pregnant women. It is a highly comfortable position for many others as well. But this position should not be used by people who suffer stiffness and body ache. If you are sleeping in the position make sure your posture is loose and comfortable to avoid further body pain. 

Sleeping on your back remains the best position for you. Try and inculcate this position in your life to have the best sleep. At first sleeping on your back can be uncomfortable but slowly you will start feeling comfortable in it.
