While most of the fruits are recommended for diabetics, grapes and bananas are an exception. Dieticians advise diabetics to stay clear of these two fruits because of the process of digestion that they go through before getting absorbed into the stomach.
Almost every fruit, be it simple or exotic, be it peach, watermelon, apple, guava or orange, make a slow journey through the digestive track. Bananas and grapes are the two fruits which are high in fructose levels, given the high amount of fibre that they contain. So, these fruits result in an immediate spike in sugar level in the body.
It is therefore recommended for diabetics to eat grapes and bananas sparingly, while freely indulging on other fruits of their choice.
