PCOS is a hormonal disorder causing enlarged ovaries with small cysts on the outer edges of the ovary. It causes menstrual irregularity, acne, excessive hair growth and obesity in women. Environmental and genetic factors are responsible for this. Veera Health is a digital platform to help women deal with it.

PCOS affects about 100 million women in India. Veera Health has been launched by Shashwata Narain and Shobhita Narain with a mission to fix healthcare for women struggling with chronic conditions, starting with a digital platform to help treat Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). Since most of the women tend to neglect their health conditions due to lack of knowledge about their own bodies, Veera Health aims to bridge this gap by making scientific healthcare available to all women through an easy-to-use app and reliable information available through articles on women’s health.

What problem does Veera Health solve?

Women are often not in control of their physical health and as a result suffer mentally too. They are still hesitant to discuss their intimate health even with the doctors. Since they want to keep their health needs a secret they are likely to fall prey to health advice from unreliable sources or unlicensed professionals. Veera Health does not just help in treatment of PCOS by experts in the field but offers preventive care and early diagnosis as well. The startup aims to make healthcare more accessible to women and lower down the stigmas by providing them complete privacy. It connects women to non-judgmental doctors who are progressive in their outlook towards dealing with patients.

How does it work?

All one has to do is to install the app available on google play or app store and the services are such that one gets connected to leading doctors of women’s health in complete privacy mode from the comfort of one’s device. Doctors provide online consultations through video / audio calls, messages, images, medical files that are shared online. They advise on tests or screenings required if any, prescribe medications, provide counselling and lifestyle tips. There is a wide panel of health professionals available on the platform ranging from gynaecologists, psychiatrists, dermatologists, counsellors, nutritionists and dieticians. Women can alternatively use services via the website of the organization. Veera Health makes healthcare for women completely accessible so that they can now lead a well-informed and much healthier life both physically and mentally.
