Causes, symptoms, and treatment, of sleep apnea

In this disease, due to obstruction in the upper airway of the respiratory tract, the flow of air is not done properly. If the patient's breathing is interrupted for a long time, then the level of oxygen in the blood decreases.

Sleep apnea means an interruption in breathing while sleeping. This is a disease in which the person's breathing stops in sleep and they do not even know it. This shortness of breath during sleep can last from a few seconds to a minute. Most people with sleep apnea snore loudly, but not everyone who snores suffers from sleep apnea.

Causes of sleep apnea

There are many causes of sleep apnea.

Excess body fatness. Enlargement of tonsils. Kidney problem Premature birth of the child. Brain infections. Stroke. Diseases affecting the nervous system like neuromuscular diseases.

Symptoms of sleep apnea

The problem of sleep apnea can be understood by the following symptoms in the patient.

Interruption in breathing.
Snoring
Feeling tired
Excessive daytime sleepiness
Waking up frequently at night to urinate
Loss of attention, alertness and concentration

Sleep apnea treatment

 Sleep apnea can be treated by adopting different types of measures.

The use of a CPAP machine, as prescribed by a doctor, is essential for the treatment of sleep apnea. For the patient suffering from sleep apnea, it is recommended to use tongue retaining and mouthpiece while sleeping. It helps to reduce and open the blockage in the upper airway of the respiratory tract. Therapy of the mouth and tongue on the advice of the doctor strengthens the muscles. This therapy proves effective for the treatment of sleep apnea.
