Top cardiologists, including Dr. Samuel J. Asirvatham of Mayo Clinic, and Dr. C. Narasimhan, AIG Hospital, bring global perspectives and best practices

Chennai, March 16, 2025: SRM Global Hospitals organised SPACE 2025 – SRM's Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology Conference, a two-day event held on March 15-16, that brought together over 100 cardiologists from across India to explore the latest advancements in electrophysiology and arrhythmia management.

SPACE 2025 featured esteemed international experts such as Dr. Samuel J. Asirvatham from the Mayo Clinic, Minnesota, and Dr. C. Narasimhan from AIG Hospital, Hyderabad. These luminaries and experts from India delivered insightful lectures and engaged in complex case discussions, enriching the knowledge base of participants.

In his comments, Dr. P. Sathyanarayanan, President, SRM Global Hospitals, said, "SPACE 2025 aims to elevate the standard of cardiac care in India by convening experts and practitioners, knowledge-sharing and the exploration of innovative technologies. Our hospital is committed to improving outcomes for patients with arrhythmias or irregular heartbeats that have become a significant health concern in India. Atrial fibrillation (AF), the most common type, impacts approximately 33 million individuals globally and is a leading cause of stroke, heart failure, and other cardiovascular complications. In India, anywhere from 2 to 4 million individuals are living with AF. "

Dr. T. R. Muralidharan, Organising Chairman of SPACE 2025 and Director of the Institute of Cardiac Sciences at SRM Global Hospitals, said that the hospital organised the conference to encourage collaboration and the dissemination of cutting-edge knowledge, ultimately contributing to the advancement of cardiac care in India.

He pointed out that though AF prevalence across different Indian demographics is relatively lower, compared to Western countries, with an aging population and increasing prevalence of risk factors like hypertension and diabetes, the burden of AF in India is anticipated to rise. In this context, platforms like SPACE go a long way in enhancing awareness, early detection, and effective management strategies.
