COVID-19 recovery rate improves to 78.86 per cent

In the last 24 hours, one thousand 174 deaths were reported taking the toll to 84 thousand 372. The total number of samples tested so far has gone up to over six crores 15 lakhs.

The country today registered the highest single-day recoveries of 87 thousand 472 COVID patients. The Health Ministry said the recovery rate of COVID-19 has further improved to 78.86 percent.

The Health Ministry said the total number of recoveries has reached over 41 lakh 12 thousand. The constantly increasing recoveries have ensured that the actual caseload of the country is reduced and currently comprises only 19.52 percent of the total positive cases. Presently, the total number of active cases in the country is 10 lakh 17 thousand.

The Ministry said, effective implementation of the Centre's strategic and graded 'Test-Track and Treat' approach has led to higher recoveries and lower fatality. Currently, India’s Case Fatality Rate is at 1.62 percent, which is one of the lowest globally. In the last 24 hours, one thousand 174 deaths were reported taking the toll to 84 thousand 372.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, more than 10 lakh six thousand tests were conducted during the last 24 hours. The total number of samples tested so far has gone up to over six crores of 15 lakhs. The testing strategy also ensured a steady expansion of the national lab network. Today, with one thousand 60 labs in the government sector and 704 private labs, one thousand 764 labs are providing comprehensive testing facilities to the people.
