Manipur from Northeast has recorded the first confirmed novel coronavirus case.However, the second test report is awaited.
A 23-year-old from Imphal (west) has been identified as the first confirmed case of the novel coronavirus in the State.With a travel history to UK, the person is being treated at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal (JNIMS).
Meanwhile, the state Health department and deputy chief minister Y Joykumar Singh have confirmed the case.Joykumar was quoted as saying that one case has been depicted as positive.“So, now we are taking the possible precautions that are necessary,” he said.The victim had flown to Imphal via Calcutta and Agartala.Now authorities have an uphill task to trace who were her co-passengers in that flight.Meanwhile, the COVID-19 death toll in the country stands at 10 on Tuesday with nearly 500 confirmed cases of the infection.
On the other han,another person has tested positive for coronavirus in Patna's Nalanda Medical College and Hospital taking the total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in the state to 4. Coronavirus positive cases in the country continue to surge as total confirmed infected patients toll is currently at 536 including 11 fatalities.
