Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh yesterday inaugurated a new 100-bedded COVID Block at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) Complex, Imphal East district. This is in addition to the existing COVID Block having 145 beds in JNIMS.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chief Minister urged one and all, who are in the medical profession, to work with more dedication in curbing COVID-19 pandemic. He said the Government and the people do understand that medical professionals are working tirelessly in fighting the pandemic and also assured that their grievances and demands would be definitely looked into.
In another news update in Manipur, 151 people including 35 personnel from the Central Armed Police Force have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 48 hours. Among the new cases, 116 are locals and do not have travel history.
On the other hand, 96 persons were discharged in the past 48 hours in the State and the recovery rate is 87.67 per cent.
So far, Manipur has recorded total positive cases of 26,685 while the total number of recovered cases is 23,397. The number of active cases is 2970. 318 people have died due to infection so far.
Meanwhile, in Assam, 146 cases detected out of 28,896 tests conducted with a positivity rate of 0.51% while 178 patients are discharged the day before yesterday. Total cases- 214165 out of which recovered are 97.88% & active cases are 1.65%.
With 24 new cases, Sikkim’s COVID-19 count reaches 5,239. The number of discharged patients has further improved to 4,661 with the release of 19 patients from the hospital and home isolation. There are currently 368 active cases of novel Coronavirus in the State.
