Important vitamins for Liver

Vitamin deficiencies can impair liver function. So if you want to keep your liver healthy always, then never let your body lack these 5 vitamins.

The liver is an important part of our body. The liver performs the functions of digesting food, synthesizing proteins, producing hormones, and filtering out toxins. But it is very important to have an adequate amount of vitamins in the body to help the liver to perform its functions. A lack of essential vitamins in the body can also affect liver health.

  1. Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, which is useful in reducing the amount of fat in the liver. Vitamin E helps balance levels of other antioxidants and free radicals. Apart from this, vitamin E protects liver cells from dying. People who have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease or gas-alcoholic hepatitis mainly suffer from insufficient vitamin E. Vegetable oils, sunflower, soy, corn, and olive oils are good sources of vitamin E. Apart from this, almonds are also a good source of vitamin E.

  1. Vitamin C

Like vitamin E, vitamin C is also an antioxidant. Vitamin C is a key element, which helps neutralize molecules known as free radicals. Low levels of the antioxidant vitamin C can lead to an imbalance in oxidative stress. Its deficiency can have a negative effect on unbalanced cells, leading to liver diseases. Vitamin C helps limit the accumulation of fat in the liver, preventing fatty liver disease. Citrus fruits such as oranges, grapes, broccoli, and strawberries are good sources of vitamin C.

  1. Vitamin B

Vitamin B is one of the best vitamins for the liver. Taking a diet rich in B vitamins helps in reducing the symptoms of many liver diseases. Vitamin B helps in keeping the liver healthy. So if you want to keep your liver healthy always, then definitely include foods rich in vitamin B in your diet. Eggs, milk, cheese, tuna fish, vegetables, beans, soy products, yeast, and bananas are rich in B vitamins. Apart from this, vitamin B is also found in kidney beans, red meat, and tofu.

  1. Vitamin D

Vitamin D is one of the essential vitamins for the liver. Vitamin D helps prevent metabolic liver disease and inflammatory diseases. Egg yolks, mushrooms, fortified foods are good sources of vitamin D.

Vitamins for Liver Health: To keep the liver healthy, it is very important to have sufficient amount of Vitamin E, Vitamin B, and Vitamin C in the body. The liver can be kept healthy through healthy diet, and exercise.
