Top Causes of Fatty Liver 

The top causes of fatty liver are as follows - 

Age 

Fatty liver is generally aged between 40 - 60 years. However, it can also be seen in younger age groups.

Genetics 

If there is a strong family history of fatty liver, there are higher chances that you may also develop fatty liver in the long run as you are prone to depositing fat in the liver. 

Sedentary lifestyle 

Lack of exercise and no physical movement can cause fatty liver. It is important to exercise to keep fatty liver problems at bay. 

Stress

Stress can cause hormonal imbalance which may give rise to stress hormones. This may increase the appetite and hunger hormones. Stress may increase cravings for sweets. 

An eating disorder like binge eating 

If you are prone to binge eating and watching Netflix round the clock, be ready to have an eating disorder that may lead to fatty liver. 

Eating outside junk food and oily food 

Eating outside, junk and oily foodstuffs may lead to the deposition of fat in the liver. If you are eating deep-fried foods regularly, check the oil which you are consuming. 

Overweight 

Obesity is the prime cause of fatty liver. Check for weight and fat deposition which leads to fatty liver issues. 

Malnutrition 

It is important to consume more protein for muscle mass rather than fats. Also, ensure to consume healthy fats. 

High cholesterol 

Check for cholesterol levels, especially the lipid profile test. IF you have high cholesterol and triglyceride levels, there are higher chances of fatty liver. 

Alcohol abuse 

Drinking alcohol causes the deposition of formaldehyde which is toxic to the liver and can cause fatty liver. 

Side effects of medicines 

Taking too much medicine can be toxic for the liver. It is important to check for the long-term medicines which you are taking. 

Diabetes

High sugar levels can make you more prone to fatty deposition of the liver with insulin resistance. 

Metabolic syndrome 

Do you have belly fat? Time to take action as you may have higher chances of fatty liver

There is no specific treatment for fatty liver. Eliminating the above-mentioned causes and rectifying the lifestyle can help.
