Turtle Shell Technologies – startup that enables contactless patient monitoring saving doctors and nurses from getting exposed to infections

▴ Innovative step in healthcare
Turtle Shell Technologies, a startup established in 2015 has come up with AI powered contactless, continuous remote patient monitoring (RPM) in hospitals and at home, delivering unparalleled patient safety and maximizing utilization of ICU beds.

With the vision of impacting millions of lives, founders of Turtle Shell Technologies, Gaurav Parchani, and Mudit Dandwate launched Dozee which is an innovative contactless health monitor that silently tracks respiration, sleep patterns, heart, stress levels, cardiac contractions, apnea, and more while a person is asleep. The product's AI algorithms enable early detection of health deteriorations if any. The health information can be accessed remotely by doctors or caregivers on Dozee's patient monitoring system and its app. Dozee has been supported by Govt. of India, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Qualcomm, and many other organizations of repute.

How does it work?

Critically ill patients need constant monitoring of their vitals. So far there is a huge gap in this arena. Bengaluru-based Turtle Shell Technologies’s Dozee is a solution to bridge this gap. This health tracking product has been offering remote patient care both at hospitals as well as homes. Dozee works on a subscription-based model for remote healthcare at home which also involves doctors’ consultations. Hospitals use Dozee to continuously monitor a patient’s vitals and notify the team of doctors and nurses about any abnormalities that may be detected before it becomes critical. The AI powered early prediction algorithms can help in predicting early cases of heart failure, tuberculosis, pneumonia etc.

How has Dozee proven helpful during pandemic?

During Covid, the company improved its tracking solutions so that it can meet the demands of changing healthcare scenarios. Dozee got integrated with SpO2 (pulse oximeter) and during these pandemic times has been providing continuous remote monitoring of Covid-19 patients, preventing nurses and doctors from exposure to infection. The startups operations expanded even in government hospitals in tier 2 and tier 3 cities of India. Turtle Shell Technologies also integrated its services with leading telemedicine companies and hospitals to provide continuous monitoring of critically ill covid patients at their homes.

Dozee has been used by 4500+ users at home. The company is also working with 25+ hospitals and powering 1900+ Covid-19 beds. The organization has monitored thousands of covid-19 patients in hospitals, leading to several patients getting a timely transfer to ICUs. Due to the rise in demand of Dozee, the organization enjoyed a steep rise in its sales figures.
