Cautionary Notice Issued in Public Interest by CREDAI Hyderabad: We Urge the Masses to Stay Away from Construction Sites and Be Safe.

Hyderabad: 1st September 2024 – CREDAI, the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India, strongly advises its member developers and anyone engaged in construction activities to STOP all construction work for the next 48 hours.
This urgent measure is intended to relocate onsite labourers to safer areas in response to the red, orange, and yellow alerts issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for heavy rainfall across Telangana.

An advisory has also been issued by Shri M. Dana Kishore, IAS, Principal Secretary of MA&UD & Director General (NIUM), emphasizing the need to ensure the safety of all construction labourers.
GHMC officials are instructed to inspect and evacuate individuals from old and dilapidated buildings and to monitor Nalas, issuing public warnings to avoid any potential incidents.

Mr V. Rajashekar Reddy, President of CREDAI Hyderabad, emphasized, “We urge our member developers and anyone undertaking construction activities to stop work and move onsite labour to safer places. We need to be cautious about excavated sites, which may collapse, and ensure that cellars in newly excavated and under-construction sites are evacuated to prevent flooding. Temporary walls and scaffoldings may collapse due to rain, posing significant risks.”

Echoing these concerns, Mr. B. Jagannath Rao, Secretary of CREDAI Hyderabad, stated, “Construction sites have excavations and many temporary structures, making them susceptible to accidents in heavy rainfall. ‘Prevention is always better than cure.’ We should stop all construction work at new sites and move onsite labour to safer places to prevent any accidents. Member developers can reach out to CREDAI Hyderabad for assistance in ensuring the safety of onsite staff. We also urge the common people to stay inside and be safe.”

Together, CREDAI encourages all stakeholders to prioritize safety and well-being during this adverse weather situation.
