Is stress good or bad?

Stress is just a part of life, and it's something that every person has to deal with at one point or another. But that doesn't make it any easier! Let's know whether stress can be good?

Stress is a common factor in today's busy and competitive world. There is a lot of pressure and stress about literally everything, be it a career, relationships, friendship, etc. We face a lot of challenging situations in our day-to-day lives that stress us out. So what exactly is stress?

Stress is something that we experience in situations where we are unable to control or decide anything. Emotional strain and pressure caused by this inability are called psychological stress. Rapid heart rate, feeling overwhelmed, fatigue, difficulty sleeping, frustration, and persistent thoughts about one or more stressors are signs of psychological stress.

Have you ever thought stress could be beneficial? Well, a small amount of stress may be beneficial. It helps with focus, energy, performance, and motivation. Stress helps you make fast decisions, which is good in some situations. Good stress is called eustress.

Stress, on the other hand, has a negative impact. It also has some physical effects. Mild effects like headaches, digestive issues, body pains, and chronic stress can cause serious health issues such as heart disease, high blood pressure, depression, diabetes, and obesity. Identifying problems is always the first step toward solving or managing them.

There are many situations that cause stress, so here are some stressors:

  • Increased responsibility at work
  • Conflicts at home
  • Financial strain
  • Health problems
  • A big change in life.

Stress is going to be a constant in our lives and it affects our lives and prevents our growth, therefore, we should learn to manage stress and live with it.

Here are some ways to manage stress:

Be kind to yourself - You have to understand that just because you are under stress, you are not weak, less talented, or not capable.

Count on the people you can trust - Whenever you feel stressed, reach out to someone that you trust.

Eat regular meals - Proper nutrition helps in managing stress.

Exercise - Regular exercise improves your overall health and makes you feel good because your body releases endorphins after exercising.

Get Rest - One way to manage stress is to get enough rest. Get a proper 7-9 hours of sleep, and some me-time would be great to relax yourself.

Seek Help:

Sometimes stress can get out of control, and you might feel frustrated, irritated, angry, and disappointed and not be able to cope with it. Well, don't hesitate to seek help if any of the above tips for managing stress don't work for you. Call your therapist and start taking treatments or therapies to reduce your stress.
