According a recent research, the protein bars you eat as a quick fix to hunger, may do more harm than good is eaten in unchecked quantity. Doctors say that unless taken in moderation, these bars can increase fat levels in your body along with energy levels.
The shakes and bars are filled with preservatives, artificial colours and sweeteners, thickeners and even oil and fats that contribute to high cholesterol, despite the muscle benefit a person may gain.
The protein bars and shakes should not be consumed as source of food. Or else the person will end up gaining weight rather than losing. The researchers checked fat, protein, carbohydrate and sugar content in 50 popular bars. Majority of them were found having the same fat content as the hamburger. High fat and sugar content, make it hard to see how calories start to stack up in the body.
