In Gujarat, more than 94,000 Covid-19 patients have recovered and discharged from hospitals till now. According to the state health department, 1205 patients have recovered yesterday. It was reported that Ahmedabad police has launched drives against violators of compulsory mask rule. Despite an increase in a fine from Rs.500 to Rs.1000 last month, the many people in Ahmedabad are not following compulsory mask rules. Police have launched the drive against such rule-breakers since last one week. Private vehicles are being stopped on certain points for checking, whether compulsory mask rule followed or not by the commuters. According to sources, Ahmedabad police had fined 1520 violators and collected more than Rs.15 lakh as fine on Sunday. Police are also pursuing the people not to take the Coronavirus infection lightly.

In Mumbai, with the spurt in the number of cases of Covid-19, the MCGM has attributed the surge to scaling up of testing in the city. The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai said that with the easing of restrictions under phase 4 of 'Mission Begin Again' and 10-day Ganesh festival that concluded earlier this month, the infection rate grew steadily. At present, the recovery rate of Mumbai district is 77 per cent and there has been 1.24 per cent rise in cases since over a week. With 30,316 active cases of Covid-19 and around 2 thousand cases reported on a daily basis from the last few days, Mumbai continues to be one of the worst-hit cities in the country. However, the civic body says that further opening of the economy in phase four and the recently concluded Ganesh festival celebration are two main reasons why the infection rate has gone up. An official of the MCGM said that the civic authorities will conduct more aggressive testing from tomorrow onwards under the mission 'My Family-My Responsibility'. Apart from doing the screening, oxygen levels of people would be checked with the help of oximeters. Pamphlets enlisting the dos and don'ts will be distributed among each household in the city and more aggressive testing will be done. He said, earlier 7-8 thousand tests were done daily, but now it has been further ramped up to almost 15 thousand. In order to crack a whip on people who do violate COVID-19 protocols by not wearing masks, the MCGM has decided to a fine as many as one thousand people daily.

In Madhya Pradesh, the number of COVID-19 cases in the state climbed up to 88,247 after recording more than 2,281 new cases were reported in the past 24 hours. With 34 patients succumbing to the infection, the death toll rose to 1,762. As per the state health bulletin, 1600 coronavirus patients were discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours taking the number of recovered cases in the state to around 66,000. There are now 20,487 active cases in Madhya Pradesh.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that it is necessary to make a long-term strategy to control the situation of Corona without stopping social and economic activities. He directed the Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains to form a sub-group for this purpose. Shri Chouhan said that a roadmap should be developed after consulting with religious leaders, social, political, business and voluntary organizations. The government has also instructed to develop a strategy for corona management, including private and government hospitals, medical colleges and subject experts.
