Chennai, August 30th, 2025: The Tamil Nadu and Puducherry chapter of Women in Nephrology India (WIN-India) successfully hosted the 4th Annual Conference: WIN-ICON 2025 in Chennai. This year’s theme, “Practicing advanced, evidence-based nephrology with impactful collaboration,” highlighted WIN’s mission to advance science, foster collaboration, and empower women specialists in nephrology.

The conference was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, Former Chief Scientist, World Health Organization (WHO) & Chairperson, MSSRF, along with Dr. Shyam Bansal (Secretary, Indian Society of Nephrology), Dr. Arpita Ray Choudhary (President, ISOT), and Mrs. Vasundhara Raghavan (Founder, Kidney Warriors), released the conference souvenir WINspire.

The two-day event saw participation from over 300 nephrologists, researchers, academicians, and healthcare professionals from across India and abroad.

Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, Chief Guest, in her inaugural speech said, “WIN-ICON 2025 is more than a scientific meeting. It is a platform for empowerment and change. By amplifying the voices of women nephrologists, fostering collaboration, and inspiring innovation, we are shaping the future of kidney care in India and beyond. The conversations here in Chennai will set the stage for lasting impact in both practice and policy.”

Dr. Shyam Bansal, Secretary, Indian Society of Nephrology, said, “The Indian Society of Nephrology is proud to support WIN-ICON 2025. Women nephrologists have been at the forefront of advancing our field, and this conference is a celebration of their leadership, diversity, and contribution to kidney care in India.”

Dr. Manisha Sahay, President, WIN India, pointed out, “In just three years, WIN-India has united over 400 women nephrologists across the country. WIN-ICON 2025 is not only an academic milestone but also a testament to the strength of solidarity, mentorship, and shared vision in nephrology.”

Dr. Swarnalatha Guditi, Secretary, WIN India, added, “This year, WIN welcomed 50 new members into its fold, further strengthening our reach and global affiliations. WIN-ICON has always been about growth, growth of science, of collaboration, and of women leaders in medicine.”

Dr. Jayalakshmi Seshadri, Organising Chairman, WIN-ICON 2025, shared, “Chennai, with its deep medical tradition and vibrant culture, was the perfect host for WIN-ICON 2025. This conference reminded us that progress in kidney health comes when research, practice, and collaboration go hand in hand.”

Dr. Ranjanee Muthu, Organising Secretary, WIN-ICON 2025, highlighted, “WIN-ICON 2025 was designed as a rich academic feast and a collaborative platform. Every delegate returned with knowledge, networks, and renewed inspiration to drive patient-centred innovation.”

WIN-ICON 2025 proved to be one of the most significant gatherings of the nephrology fraternity this year, seamlessly combining science, collaboration, and culture to advance the future of kidney health.

Over two days, the program featured academic sessions led by eminent national and international faculty, engaging panel discussions on clinical challenges, hands-on workshops on Onconephrology Pathology and Dialysis Technology, a quiz competition for postgraduate students, and a vibrant cultural showcase celebrating the artistic heritage of Tamil Nadu.
